less about the actual clothes and more about the psychology behind getting dressed for your occupation.  the two are closely tied (had to, sorry) and once you understand “why,” the “how” becomes a joy instead of a burden.

for a bit, i also did what paul feig mentions around the shift to casual in the office.  on fridays, casual fridays, i wore full suit.  it probably annoyed the crap out of people but what’s better than ending a week feeling good about yourself and the work you did that day?

Some folks will receive one of Patrick Moberg’s limited edition Boxee shirts at the Beta event tonight in Williamsburg.

big ups to johnny for snagging me one of these tonight.  along with my nutella container that has kobe bryant on it (before they dropped him), i’m slowly collecting pop culture obscura.

The Mongol warrior used to wear Chinese silk underwear, if it could be obtained. One would not normally consider underwear to be military equipment, but the fact is that silk is a very tough substance. If arrows are shot from a larger distance, they will not easily penetrate the silk. Even if an arrow penetrates the human skin, the silk may hold, so that the arrow can be drawn out from the wound by pulling the silk around. This would also prevent poison from entering the bloodstream.

The Mongol military might (via soxiam)

a pretty good case for wearing nice underwear all the time.  sounds good to me.

The best part about a brand like Johnny Cupcakes is that it’s neither here nor there, but it’s undoubtedly everywhere. A lot of my upper-echelon streetwear contemporaries deride the brand for being kitschy and soft (ironic considering a good chunk of their customers are Cupcakeheads. i.e. Look at the photos.) While more mainstream labels may not understand the limited-numbers approach to a basic t-shirt line. But that is why I’ve always respected and appreciated Johnny’s work, because he’s always done whatever he’s wanted to do with his line, paying no mind to the critics or the doubters, all the while listening intently to himself and his customers — who are ultimately the only ones who matter. At the end of the day, it’s this mentality that racks up the wins. (via The Hundreds : Blog» Blog Archive » JOHNNY! JOHNNY!! JOHNNY!!!)

always been a big fan - and customer - of johnny. i’ve been watching his brand develop into something huge and he’s done it exactly how a modern brand should be built. i would’ve linked to some of his posts sooner but (and maybe this is by design), i can’t. he’s hidden use of permalinks and kept the blog portion inclusive to the site and the rest of it’s content. what a trickster.
