kratlee:

i bought some lunar new year stamps from the post office for my correspondence and they came with this fancy package outlining the year of the rabbit. The whole set of stamps is illustrated by kam mak (whose paintings & poetry we’ve published) using cultural symbols related to lunar new year celebrations that were pulled from his personal photographs. this year mak illustrated a pair of kumquats, which are given as gifts and eaten for good luck.

fun facts: as well as it being the first day of the new year, today is my birthday, and i was born in the tail end of the year of the rabbit in 1988. isn’t that a lovely lunar coincidence?

a couple of things here.  lots of love to kid sister #2 on her 23rd.  going to party fam-style this weekend.  i’m going to creep a bit to see what she wants.

back to the chinese part.  half of me gets to party today.  i should probably go have chinese food for lunch somewhere.  dad went a little crazy on the family blog.

and, yeah, that’s today.
