this is the future. i hope everyone is okay with that. it’s not “video” or a “network” or “search” or “collaboration” or “advertising”.
it’s how we describe things. how we designate things. how we put things in their places and how those places represent value in their own form or as tools or currency of human communication. information design. ”tags.” everything else in business, in media production and consumption is just moving one thing from one place to another. vehicles. organizations.
value equals success and that magic “key” is refinement. efficiencies.
there are a million ways to describe why apple or google sits on top of fat cat mountain but the majority of us are pontificating for peer-approval.
both are in the business of information design. apple dictates how, at the highest level, we interact with each other and our respective data sets.
google is harvesting our data. compartmentalizing it and selling it back to us. they have minds big enough to do this while at the same time challenge the best way to utilize our metadata.
for about 3 years this has slowly been realizing itself in my head. i’ve wrote rambling manifestos and have seen spurts of genius popping up around me but slowly fading.
although, hopefully, this is where we’re heading. step back and think about it and really focus at what chris is talking about and how #hashtags are utilizing our data.
